Hunter 21

Campers learn the basics aboard our fleet of 21' Hunter Marine daysailers then move up to a 42' Custom French built Beneteau sloop to master navigation, piloting and passagemaking. This variety in teaching platforms affords us the best of both worlds in sailing education - small vessels are used to teach sail trim and helmsmanship and large vessels to teach boat handling, systems, and maneuvering.

Our Hunter sportboats are the perfect combination of speed, stability, comfort, and ease of handling to make learning to sail a breeze. They feature full 14ft cockpits easily accommodating 6 adults in seats, a small jib and high-aspect mainsail riding on backstayless B&R Mast. The Hunter's are a joy to sail for both kids and adults and provide the performance and comfort of even the most demanding sailors - so much so that these same boats are the newest additions the the massive training fleets at the US Naval Academy and the Bitter End Yacht Club. Not only are out Hunter sportboats great performers, they are also some of the safest small boats afloat, with their internal positive flotation built into the hull layup, creating boat that is fully unsinkable even if holed or cut in half.

Beneteau 42

After mastering small boat sailing aboard the Hunters, campers have the option of stepping aboard a our 42' Beneteau sloop. At twice the length and over twice the sail area the Beneteau gives campers the opportunity to apply their newfound skills aboard a completely different type of vessel and see how big boat sailing is so intricately related to small boat sailing. Aboard the larger vessel campers learn to steer with a wheel, use a diesel engine, dock a in both forward and reverse, and understand how size and weight affects vessels of all type.

We have carefully chosen our vessels to give campers a wide range of experience that will set the stage for a lifetime of sailing enjoyment, adventure and accomplishment.
