Where do I go for my class?

Meet your captain / instructor at the main gate to the marina just beneath the American flag. Directions and a map can be found on our contact page

What time does my course meet?

All courses unless otherwise noted meet at 10am and dismiss at 5pm. There is a short lunch break in the middle.

What about lunch?

We take about a 45 minute break for lunch. You are welcome to bring your own, or visit any of the nearby restaurants. Dining at the Boat Basin Cafe is usually the most convenient as it is located right at the marina.

What to bring?

Bring some sunscreen, sunglasses, maybe a hat, and a good attitude. You are going on a mini vacation, come prepared to unwind, relax and learn.

What to wear?

Dress comfortably for the weather. It is usually a a good bit cooler out on the water, especially when the wind picks up. Bring a jacket in the cooler months.

Will I get wet?

Most likely no. Rarely there may be a bit of spray from a wave, but no you won't get soaked by any means.

What kind of shoes do I need?

We recommend sailing in a good pair of deck shoes. You may also sail in flip flops, sandals, or light colored soft soled shoes. Hard soles, heels, and dark rubber soles are not permitted.

Is there room onboard for my bags and gear?

Yes there is plenty of room in the boats for your stuff.

May I bring my cell phone?

You may bring a cell phone to your lesson you desire, however we ask that you refrain from using it excessively during the lesson as this distracts other students from the tasks at hand.

Food / Drink?

You are welcome to bring and snacks or drinks out with you if you think you may get hungry on the water.

Restrooms?

We are the only sailing school in the region that has toilets aboard its boats. That being said, they are for emergencies only. There is nothing fun about using a portable toilet in a small boat, nor is there anything fun about cleaning it. So, if you have to go, go. If you can hold it until we get back to the dock, even better.

Weather?

What if it rains? We want you to enjoy you lesson and because of this we only sail in pleasant / safe conditions. We do not sail in rain, lighting, high winds, or confused seas. These conditions are very rare in our sailing area but please do understand that they are out of our control and we do not go out into them for your comfort and safety. If your sail is canceled due to rain or unsafe conditions simply give us a call and we will reschedule the sail completely free of cost. The captain of your vessel has final say in what deems unsafe conditions.

Absence?

If you will be absent from class for any reason please let us know so we will not wait for you. We will try to reschedule any missed lessons.g
